Careers at Klaasmeyer
We've been putting pipeline, broadband, cable and fiber in the ground across Arkansas since 1972, bridging the digital divide one mile at a time. The crews who do it learn a trade they keep for life.
Lasting partnerships with
From bringing the first telephone service to isolated rural Arkansas communities in the 1970s to deploying fiber-to-the-home today, we bridge the digital divide by bringing modern infrastructure to areas that have been left behind.
Fifty-plus years of that work adds up to something a new hire can feel on day one: the work doesn't dry up in November, the foreman training you learned it from someone who's been here twenty years, and the skill you pick up on a Klaasmeyer crew (boring, splicing, locating, operating) belongs to you for the rest of your career.
Klaasmeyer Construction Company, Inc. is a privately owned and operated leader in the South-Central telecommunications contracting industry. We've built lasting partnerships with AT&T, Verizon, Level 3, Uniti, and other regional providers through our commitment to quality, safety and reliability.
Competitive wages with growth opportunities, and a real pay step at every rung of the field ladder.
Health insurance, retirement, and more. Full benefits summary to be confirmed with the client.
Training and advancement opportunities. Most of our foremen and superintendents started as laborers.
Field work is physical and it's early. It's also the fastest way to learn a trade that pays. Watch a full shift with a Klaasmeyer crew, sunrise tailgate to last locate flag.
Load conduit and hand tools, walk the day's scope, and run the safety briefing. Every crew starts with one.
Confirm the 811 tickets, mark existing utilities, set traffic control, and stake the bore path.
Directional drilling, trenching, hand digging around live utilities, pulling conduit and setting pedestals.
Thirty minutes, then back at it. Water and shade are non-negotiable in an Arkansas July.
Fiber gets spliced and tested, and the customer gets their yard back the way we found it.
Equipment secured, timecards in, tomorrow's scope set. Overtime is available and it's paid.
The CARE Standard
Every crew is measured the same way, from a first-week laborer to a superintendent. Each quarter, crew members nominate the people who best show one of them, and we tell their story here.
The CARE Standard
You finish the mile. Weather, mud and a bad bore don't change what we promised the customer.
"We were three days into a bore under the creek when the rain hit. I could have called it, but the customer's cutover was Monday. We rotated crews, kept the mud pumps running, and finished Sunday night. Their date mattered to them, so it mattered to us."
The CARE Standard
You call your own near-miss. Nobody gets written up for stopping work over a safety concern.
"I stopped the whole crew when the locate marks did not match what I was seeing in the ground. Turned out there was an unmarked gas line a foot off the bore path. Nobody gave me grief for the delay. Around here, calling it is the right move, every time."
The CARE Standard
For the homeowner's yard, the utility beside your bore, and the person next to you on the crew.
"A homeowner emailed after we left and said her yard looked better than before we dug it up. That is the standard. I had two new laborers with me that week, and I made sure they saw why we take the extra hour to put a site back right."
The CARE Standard
Locate flags straight, conduit at depth, splice loss in spec. Done right the first time beats fast.
"My splice logs are something I am proud of. Every fiber tested, every reading recorded, so the next crew and the customer know exactly what they are getting. Clean work in the ground and clean paperwork behind it. That is the whole job, not half of it."
The same standard that decides who we promote decides who shows up on your job site. Crews are trained in house, nominated by their peers, and held to CARE on every mile, which is why AT&T, Verizon, Level 3 and Uniti keep sending us work. See our construction services →
Military experience with heavy equipment, logistics and safety discipline translates directly onto our field and fleet teams.
If you drove an M915 semi, ran a 12B route under load, or maintained comms as a 25U signal specialist, you already have the discipline and situational awareness our foremen look for. Tell a recruiter your MOS and we'll match it to the right opening.
The ladder below is the ordinary route at Klaasmeyer, not the exception. Each rung is a real pay step with training attached, and the company pays for the certifications.
Filter by team or location, then apply directly or open the full role page. Applications are handled through our hiring portal.
No roles match that filter. Try another team or location, or send a general application. We keep them on file.
Field Operations
The things field applicants actually ask, answered straight.
Not for most field roles. Laborer and Field Employee positions are entry points. We train on the job, and the people teaching you came up the same way. Operator and HDD seats do require verifiable rig time.
Field roles start at $15.50/hr with competitive wages and growth opportunities, and every rung on the career ladder is a real pay step.
Most of our work is in Arkansas and you'll be home most nights. When a project takes a crew out of state, lodging and per diem are covered.
Field crews typically start at 6:00 AM and work a full day, with overtime available and paid. Storm and outage response can mean nights or weekends. That work is voluntary and premium-rated.
A valid driver's license and clean MVR for most field roles. Locator certification is paid for by the company. CDL sponsorship is available for operators and drivers who want one.
Apply through the portal, a recruiter calls within a few business days, then an in-person interview at the Conway yard. Field roles include a DOT physical and a drug screen before a start date is set.
Actively. Military experience with heavy equipment, logistics and safety discipline maps directly onto our field and fleet teams, and we'll help translate an MOS into the right opening.
